I’m thinking about a career as a foreign service specialist, and your blog has me fascinated.
What is your title, if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve been looking at an IMTS position, and I’m wondering what the lifestyle is like…

Hi Josh. I’m an Information Management Specialist (IMS). If you pursue the IMTS route, your choice of overseas postings is limited, and you will do a lot of short-term travel to embassies and consulates. If you go the IMS route, you can work at pretty much any post in the world, and you don’t have to travel nearly as much once your at your posting.
The lifestyle is pretty great. Lots of perks. If you enjoy traveling and are flexible/adaptive to new things and cultures, it’s a great job.
